Coopacadabra!

By Rebecca & Brianna

After 4 Saturdays of planning and building by Matt…

and 4 1/2 days of priming and painting by Rebecca…

…the coop is done! Well, really close. But it’s habitable at long last!

It is complete with paint to match our house and a cute star. Notice anything of interest about the star??

There are three nests and a roost. Yes, that is a red chickie chair rail and a faux paint technique in brown. The rest of the coop interior may look garish in some of these pics, but it is really a cheerful egg-yolk yellow.

Keeping the chickens comfortable is what’s important, right?

We have a secret “egg door” in the back, and a chicken-sized door for the little ladies to go play outside in the fenced area (and a very secure, cat-free area, I might add).

Here’s the PVC pipe feeder our family mod-podged with fun paper for FHE. Not the most flattering lighting, but you get the idea. LOVE it.

Avian Aqua Miser: Automatic, poop-free chicken waterers

Now this is cool. See that little “chicken nipple” ? I bought it and am nearly done making my own waterer with it. It only releases water when the chicken pecks at the silver end, which bobs up and, thanks to gravity, lets out one refreshing drop at a time.

THE END.
